F.A.Q.

Why 5starbaby.com?
I originally came up with the original 'Movie Poster' Birth Announcement idea over thirteen years ago with the birth of my first son James. Everyone who received James' birth announcement commented on what an original idea it was. Friends and family have been asking (ok, insisting) that I create website and it is now our full-time job. I actually started to receive orders before I even considered turning this into a business. We would be honored to design one of our 'Movie Poster' Birth Announcements for your little star. Take a look at our Testimonials page and you'll see why we love being a small part of your baby's introduction to the world.

Do I come up with the movie theme myself or do choose from templates?
Each poster is custom designed with a lot of personalized details. No two designs are alike. Please feel free to suggest any design ideas ie. colors, type faces, backgrounds. We can create parody of popular movies. There might be additional costs if the design becomes very complex. We will let you know before we start if we think that there might be any extra charges.

What kind of picture should I use?
Our posters work best with color photos but would work well with black and white too. Some photos may require cropping, and some editing. Most importantly, the image should be the highest resolution possible. An ideal size is 1200x1600 pixels, or 4x6 inches at 300dpi.

Will I know what my poster looks like before you print it?
After we receive your order info and photo, we will email you a digital proof (PDF file) usually in 3-4 days. You can mak any changes you'd like and another proof will be sent for your approval before they go to the printer.

Do I have to use a digital camera?
We only accept digital photos. If you don't have a digital camera at your disposal, you can always scan the photo (at high resolution) and upload the file to us. Kinko's can do this for you; be sure to tell them to scan it at 300 dpi and save it as a jpeg. Pictures taken on a camera phone are not high resolution, and will not print well on most of our designs. Keep in mind, the better the photo, the better the final announcement.

Can you touch up my photograph?
We can do as much image manipulation as you would like; but we also know when to stop so the image doesn't look fake. We almost always do a little re-touching for skin blemishes, baby acne, etc. We have even taken out the family dog in the background and added more blankets!

Do your designs work for twins, triplets, or special births?
Yes! Since every order is custom designed just for you, we can make it perfect for your unique situation.

What payment methods are accepted?
We accept PayPal. You can use a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or personal checks through Paypal to place your order. Personal checks must clear before the order is shipped.

How long until my order is shipped?
After your order and the digital photo is received, we will send you a proof within a week. Orders will be shipped out via USPS Ground usually within 3 days after the PayPal invoice is received. Shipping is payed by the customer and they can request other shipping options. We can ship 2-Day, Overnite and Internationally. Please contact info@5starbaby.com for shipping rates on international orders.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we have orders from all over the world. International orders are shipped via USPS or FedEx International Ground at buyers expense.

What if I need to order more later?
We will archive your announcement in the event that you need to order more. We will reprint the second order exactly as we did the first time, but you will not receive another digital proof and changes can not be made.

What if I change my mind?
Completed orders are non-refundable and returns are not accepted. We provide proofs for this reason, and ask that you check all information on the proof very carefully. Once the announcement has been printed, we are not able to make changes or refund your money. If you have any concerns, we will work with you. We want you to be 100% happy with your order.
